About

He writes music for the piano.

Carl likes clear ideas, bustling atmospheres, small details, and repeating something until it starts to change β€” or until he starts wondering whether it was changing the whole time and he simply failed to notice.

Most of the music here begins with something fairly simple: a chord, a rhythm, a short melody, a sound that feels interesting enough to keep around for a while. From there, it usually becomes a process of listening, changing things, changing them back, deleting something, regretting it, and occasionally discovering that the first version was better.

This website is a small archive of his piano pieces, recordings, and scores where they are available. It is not intended to present a grand theory of music, a carefully constructed artistic mythology, or evidence that the composer has completely figured out what he is doing.

He has not.

What he does know is that he enjoys writing for the piano, with chance sometimes, because it can be intimate, rhythmic, delicate, dramatic, repetitive, and slightly unreasonable.

Some pieces arrive quickly. Others take a long time.

Some begin with a clear idea. Others begin with a wrong note that turns out to be more interesting than the right one.

He believes music can be serious without the person making it having to look serious all the time.

He also believes a piece and the person who wrote it are best kept apart. Everything here was written by earlier versions of him β€” people he remembers fondly and would occasionally like to have a quiet word with. People keep changing; scores, inconveniently, do not. So if a piece sounds as if someone else wrote it, that is because, in a sense, someone else did.

So this site is meant to be simple: a place for the music and whatever comes next.

Starting in 2026, he is interested in making music that was first recorded and then edited with an AI music tool. The piano, after all, was once a new invention, and the composers of its day had to decide what to do with it.

He is also looking for someone who can transcribe a piece of music, and he would be happy to work with that person. He is equally willing to work with a passionate pianist.

Say hello β€” hallelujah.
